Election Day is November 5, 2024
I am the Democratic candidate for Johnson County Commissioner District 3 and I take my service to the community seriously.
Currently I serve on the Johnson County Board of Health and the Johnson County Public Library Foundation.
As a Johnson County resident for over 20 years, I put service to the community over partisan politics and believe we all thrive when both parties collaborate.

Ronald H. West has been commissioner since 2012 and has largely run unopposed.
He and the other two commissioners approved my appointment to the county Board of Health. While I was serving on this board last year, the commissioners refused to accept $2.1 million dollars in taxpayer money from the State Health Department. They denied county residents vital funds that would have gone a long way in making improvements to the programs and services that the county Department of Health provides to our community--paramedicine, a mobile vaccination unit, and hiring additional peer recovery coaches, etc.
They denied funds despite one commissioner admitting to funding shortages during a meeting with Dr. Lindsay Weaver, state health commissioner. They opted out of these funds without consulting the members of the county Board of Health. During a fall 2023 Board of Health meeting a county official stated, "We really need to take the money next year." Of the 92 counties in Indiana only five did not accept these funds.
Johnson County deserves a representative who will not deny them needed funds but instead will work with state and county health department officials to best serve the community.
In June 2024, the commissioners unanimously voted against passing a housing code which would set minimum standards of decency to protect renters and would require landlords to make needed repairs for their tenants. Just minutes after opening the meeting in prayer by asking God to help those struggling with the extreme heat, Commissioner West voted against a proposal that would, among other things, require landlords to repair broken air conditioning units.
Johnson County residents deserve a commissioner who will work for the good of the whole community and will not deny renters the expectation of basic human decency.
In a March 2024 Daily Journal article, West stated he is seeking another term to finish three large projects that the commissioners are currently overseeing.
I appreciate Commissioner West's service but believe Johnson County needs a commissioner who is fully present and focused not only on completing current projects but who is looking forward and proactively identifying the needs of a growing community.
I gratefully thank Mr. West for his service and if elected I welcome the passing of the baton and the opportunity to move the county forward.
